  I have been to Hollyhock several times over the years and always had a wonderful all around experience whether taking a class or just enjoying the beautiful view, grounds and food. Very high on my list of unique places.

  SORRY, must say when I toured the Hollyhock... I was very disappointed in the facilities .... it is a really old, ratty, and overpriced but some people may like staying in a simple = organic. The island's natural beauty and get back to nature overcomes this place. However; from my point of view Cortes can be enjoyed at MUCH less cost staying elsewhere... and try the kayaking around the island or biking around or going to the lakes it is very incredible.   A great place to learn and rejuvenate in the beauty of mature with hotubs looking out at the rocky mountains and fresh cooked meals on their patio overlooking the ocean

  I have had the good fortune of spending time at Hollyhock twice. The first time I spent a week long silent retreat there, the second time was a week long also and was wonderful. Swimming off the long boat they have. The food is excellent and plenty of it. Even better if you are vegetarian. No TV, no radio, just peaceful breathtaking beauty.
